The combination of violin, guitar and double bass has its seeds in Argentinian Tango ensembles of the 1920s, and also in Gypsy bands, especially renowned since Django Reinhardt. The trio is named after Astor Piazzolla whose artfully arranged tango compositions are one main focus of the band’s repertoire. But the three musicians take one step further, covering the spectrum of all stylistic trends from baroque to classical music, romanticism, modernity and jazz. Thus, different stylistic trends of four centuries become one musical language. A specific diversity comes into being, never being optional and exemplifying that masterpieces of music are always built upon each other.
