„Mensch Engel”
Leonard Engel has reached a vital moment in his life: The beloved childhood in the region Mainfranken is the past, A-levels are passed, the future is full of opportunities, but his first love to his friend Markus is rapidly replaced by a great void and the feeling, that something „is fundamentally wrong with him”. Fleeing from erotic confusion and staged excesses, hestarts studying in Vienna, where intrigues of his fellow in misery Feline pushes him into the arms of the young male prostitute Tiago. Nor a jump into the river Donau, nor visiting his sister in the South of France provides him an escape from the nightmare he is living in. Meeting Boris ends his restless surch for an aim. Possesed of the idea to recover his life with this person, he starts to write down his history.
A passionate self-portrait of the young man is created, who seeks for the truth likewise among humans, the animal kingdom, as well as the world of the angels. By the way he tells, why life actually is a test, that cannot be passed, and if it can, only with the help of literature.
The novel „Mensch Engel” is the powerfully eloquent debut of Gunther Geltinger, which convinces with its virtuoso play with different narrator voices, questioning the credibility of memories and the consistent way of telling a biography: „ All these histories are so, bu none is true.”
