„Wo es war, soll ich sein”

The construction of the space is not yet finished. (...) In contrast to this clearly defined environment, a bright red, amorphous shape of splinters and fragments of plasterboards runs diagonally through the 300 square metre space. (...)The point of departure for Sebastian Wickeroth’s works is an engagement with the possibilities and limits of painting. He is interested above all in the relationship of image and wall, shape and space. (...)There is an additional aspect in Sebastian Wickeroth’s recent works: the perfect surfaces of his geometrical shapes and surfaces are no longer closed, but fragmented, deformed, and destroyed. This disintegration of perfect geometry can be interpreted as an iconoclastic gesture: as an affirmation and negation of minimal art.
